Gujarat Titans Crumble Against Delhi Capitals, Recording Lowest Total in Franchise History

The Gujarat Titans suffered a massive batting collapse on Wednesday night, registering their lowest-ever total in the IPL against the Delhi Capitals. Put in to bat first at their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Titans were bundled out for a paltry 89 runs. This score falls well short of their previous lowest total of 125, which they managed against the same opposition in the 2023 season.

The Titan’s batting lineup faltered from the very beginning. Openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill failed to provide a solid foundation, departing for single-digit scores. The middle order, known for its firepower with players like David Miller and Rahul Tewatia, also failed to live up to expectations, succumbing to the pressure of a tight Delhi Capitals bowling attack.

The standout performer for the Delhi Capitals was young pacer Mukesh Kumar, who picked up three crucial wickets for just 14 runs. Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs also chipped in with two wickets apiece, dismantling the Titans batting order with disciplined bowling.

This crushing defeat for the Gujarat Titans comes as a surprise, considering their strong performances in the ongoing IPL season. However, it highlights the volatility of the T20 format, where a single bad day with the bat can significantly impact a team’s performance.

The Titans will now have to regroup and bounce back from this setback. Their next match will be a crucial test of their character and ability to overcome adversity.
