The 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has become a batsman’s paradise! We’ve witnessed a flurry of high-scoring matches, with teams putting up massive totals on the board.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went on a six-hitting spree against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam, scoring a mammoth 272 runs for 7 wickets. This is the second-highest total ever recorded in the IPL, just five runs behind the record set by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) a week ago (277 runs).
KKR’s batting maestro, Sunil Narine, led the charge with a blistering knock of 85 runs – the highest score of his entire T20 career! He was ably supported by 18-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who smashed a brilliant 50 off just 25 balls in his IPL debut – the second-fastest fifty ever scored by a player in their first IPL match!
This match saw numerous records being broken. KKR’s 272 is their highest score in the IPL, surpassing their previous best of 245. They also hit a staggering 18 sixes, their highest ever in an IPL innings. Additionally, Narine became the player with the third-most fifties scored within the powerplay (first 6 overs) in the IPL’s history.
This isn’t just a one-off instance. The 2024 IPL season has already seen two of the highest scores ever recorded in the tournament. Notably, before this season, only four teams had ever crossed the 250-run mark in the IPL. This year, both KKR and SRH have achieved this feat.
Overall, the IPL 2024 is proving to be a thrilling spectacle for fans, with incredible batting displays and record-breaking scores. It will be interesting to see if any teams can break the record set by SRH in the coming matches!

Last year, Mohammed Siraj was the star bowler of the IPL. He dominated the first six overs of innings, taking wickets and barely giving away any runs. This season, however, things have gone terribly wrong for Siraj. In 2023, Siraj was the second-highest wicket-taker in the powerplay, just behind Mohammed Shami. He was so good that his bowling average was just under 6 runs per over

MS Dhoni, the legendary former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, took his overall IPL sixes tally to a staggering 251.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have just unlocked a new achievement in the cricket world! They are the first team ever to play 250 matches in IPL history. This is a huge achievement, especially considering they reached this milestone before other strong teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
