Virat Kohli was on fire for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday, leading them to a big win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala. But beyond the win, Kohli achieved something even more special – he became the first player ever to score over 1000 runs against three different teams in the IPL!
During his blazing knock of 92 runs off just 47 balls, Kohli crossed the 1000-run mark against PBKS. This adds to the 1000+ runs he already has against two teams Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). No other player in IPL history has managed to achieve this feat against three different teams. David Warner and Rohit Sharma come close, with 1000+ runs against two teams each.
Kohli’s dominance continued as he also crossed the 600-run mark for the fourth time in his IPL career. This adds to his previous achievements in 2013, 2016, and 2023. With an average of over 70 and a strike rate of over 150 so far this season, Kohli is in red-hot form.
While Kohli stole the show with his batting heroics, teammates Rajat Patidar (55 runs) and Cameron Green (46 runs) also played crucial knocks in RCB’s massive total of 241 runs. Punjab Kings could only manage 181 runs in reply, handing RCB a comfortable 60-run victory.
This knock further cemented Kohli’s place as one of the greatest batsmen in IPL history. His consistency and ability to score big runs against any opponent make him a true legend of the game. With many matches still to go in the season, Kohli will be looking to add to his already impressive tally and lead his team to greater heights.
