Ben Stokes is Now 1ST-Ever England Player to Score 6k Runs and to Pick 200 Wickets in Test Wicket!

English cricket is celebrating a fantastic achievement by their star player, Ben Stokes! This week, Stokes became the very first England cricketer to score a whopping 6,000 runs and take an impressive 200 wickets in Test matches. This accomplishment puts him in a very special group alongside cricketing legends!

Test cricket is the longest format of the game, where matches can last for several days. Being successful requires both batting and bowling skills, and Stokes excels at both! This week, during a Test match against the West Indies, Stokes grabbed two wickets – reaching the incredible milestone of 200 wickets in his Test career. Amazingly, he also achieved another feat during the same match – scoring over 6,000 runs!

Only two other cricketers in history have ever managed this remarkable double: Jacques Kallis from South Africa and the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers from the West Indies. So, Stokes is now part of a very exclusive club of cricketers who can dominate the game with both bat and ball!

This isn’t the only record Stokes holds. He’s also part of another elite group with over 10,000 runs and 300 wickets across all formats of international cricket! That means he’s been a star performer in shorter, faster-paced matches as well.

Stokes’ journey to this achievement has been impressive. He reached the 200-wicket mark with a wicket in his very first bowling over of the West Indies’ second innings. Earlier in the match, he’d also bowled well in the first innings, taking another wicket. With the bat, he might not have scored many runs himself this time, but his overall record speaks for itself – a true batting champion!

Thanks to Stokes’ all-around talent, England put a strong score of 371 runs on the board. This is a fantastic achievement for Ben Stokes and a moment of great pride for English cricket. He’s a true all-rounder who excels at both batting and bowling, making him a nightmare for opposing teams!
