Babar Azam Achieves Historic Milestone in PSL 2024

In a stunning display of skill and determination, Babar Azam, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, reached a remarkable milestone in the world of T20 cricket. Playing against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, Babar became the 13th player to join the elite club of those who have scored 10,000 T20 runs. What sets him apart is not just the achievement itself, but the speed at which he accomplished it – an astounding 271 innings.

Babar Azam’s journey from his T20 debut in December 2012, where he played as an off-spinner for Lahore Eagles against Hyderabad Hawks, to now achieving this feat., has solidified his status as a batting maestro.

The Peshawar Zalmi captain’s accomplishment makes him the fourth Asian batter to cross the 10,000-run mark in T20s, following in the footsteps of compatriot Shoaib Malik, and Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Among these, Malik leads the pack, with Kohli and Rohit following closely.

In his recent performances for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League 2024, with his 84th fifty, Babar now owns the fourth-most fifties in T20 cricket and has also shattered a significant T20 record previously held by West Indies’ Chris Gayle and India’s Virat Kohli of becoming the fastest player to reach 10,000 T20 runs. Scoring a brilliant 72 runs off 51 balls against Karachi Kings, Babar broke Gayle’s record of 285 innings, and Virat Kohli’s record of 299 innings.

As Babar Azam continues to make waves in the world of cricket, his latest achievement cements his legacy as a T20 powerhouse, and fans around the globe eagerly await what more he has in store for the future.
