The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a cricket tournament loved by many for its exciting matches. While everyone loves big runs, bowlers are just as important for winning games. And not only to win the title, but these quality bowlers are also responsible for completely changing the match and tilt it in the favour of his team. Alzarri Joseph (6/12) (MI)

This young fast bowler holds the record for the best bowling figures in an IPL match. In 2019, playing for Mumbai Indians, he ripped through the batting order of Sunrisers Hyderabad in a low-scoring match. He took an incredible 6 wickets and gave away only 12 runs in 3.4 overs, helping Mumbai easily win the match.

 

Sohail Tanvir (6/14) (RR)

Before Joseph, the record was held by Sohail Tanvir for a whopping 11 years! Playing for Rajasthan Royals in the first-ever IPL season, he took 6 wickets for just 14 runs in just 4 overs against Chennai Super Kings.

 

Adam Zampa (6/19) (CSK)

This Australian spinner made a fantastic first impression in the IPL in 2016. Zampa took an amazing 6 wickets for just 19 runs in 4 overs, restricting Sunrisers Hyderabad to a low score. Even though his team lost, Zampa’s bowling performance remains the best for a bowler on the losing side.

 

Anil Kumble (5/5) (RCB)

The legendary Indian spinner, Anil Kumble, showed his skills in the IPL too. He holds the record for the most economical 5-wicket haul in the tournament’s history. During RCB vs RR in IPL 2009, he took 5 wickets in 3.1 overs while giving away only 5 runs in his bowling spell!

 

Akash Madhwal (5/5) (MI)

This young fast bowler from Mumbai Indians had a dream spell in the 2023 IPL playoffs. He picked up a mind-blowing 5 wickets for just 5 runs in his short bowling spell in 3.3 overs against Lucknow Super Giants. His outstanding bowling helped Mumbai win the match by a big margin and advance in the tournament.
