Avesh Khan’s Last-Over Heroics in RR Vs DC Clash

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a thrilling 12-run victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Jaipur on Thursday, March 28th, thanks to the phenomenal bowling performance by Avesh Khan. While young Riyan Parag‘s batting heroics stole majority of the limelight, Avesh’s last-over heroics were not ignored, as it was very crucial in securing the win.

Chasing a target of 186 runs, DC needed 17 runs in the final over with two dangerous batsmen on strike – Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs. The pressure was immense, but Avesh, a 27-year-old pacer, stepped up to the challenge.

He displayed nerves of steel, bowling a series of perfectly executed Yorkers. Avesh conceded just four runs in those six balls, effectively shutting the door on DC’s hopes of victory.  This wasn’t Avesh’s only contribution throughout the match. He started well, picking up the crucial wicket of DC’s explosive opener, David Warner. Overall, he finished with impressive figures of 4 overs, 29 runs conceded, and 1 wicket, proving his worth as a valuable death bowler.   \

My plan was clear, one side was longer and I wanted to bowl wide yorkers. I gave myself 5 seconds every ball to think and then execute the plan. If the batters play a good shot, it’s good for him, but I always back my yorkers.” – Avesh Khan on his performance against DC.

We have Boult, Burger and Sandy, I’ve learnt a lot from them. The team management and Kumar Sangakkara have supported us a lot and have made us not worry too much about the fear of failure. I always want to improve, I want to invent new types of deliveries in T20s. I rest and relax well, work hard in the nets and that has allowed me improve my skills”, he continued

While Parag’s batting undoubtedly helped set the stage for the win, Avesh’s bowling masterclass in the final over sealed the deal for Rajasthan.  Social media buzzed with praise for Avesh’s pinpoint yorkers, highlighting his composure and skill under immense pressure. This performance further cements his reputation as a reliable death bowler and a valuable asset for the Rajasthan Royals.
