Bhuvi Back in Form, Ties Boult for Most First-Over Wickets in IPL History

There was a swing of momentum in the race for the most first-over wickets in IPL history this week! In a nail-biting match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s (SRH) pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar roared back to form, tying the record for most wickets taken in the opening over of an IPL innings.

Bhuvneshwar had been struggling in recent matches, but on Thursday, he found his mojo again. In the very first over, he dismissed two in-form batsmen – Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson – for ducks! This double strike not only put RR under pressure but also helped Bhuvneshwar reach a landmark 27 first-over wickets in his IPL career, tying him with the fiery New Zealand pacer, Trent Boult.

Just a match earlier, Boult had overtaken Bhuvneshwar for the top spot by dismissing Rohit Sharma in the first over against Mumbai Indians (MI). He even added another first-over wicket against Lucknow Super GiantsQuinton de Kock. But Bhuvneshwar’s double strike ensured a well-deserved record-tie.

This isn’t the only reason SRH fans are celebrating. Bhuvneshwar, bowling with renewed confidence, returned in the final over to dismiss Rovman Powell, sealing a thrilling 1-run victory for his team.

Most wickets in 1st over in IPL

Trent Boult – 27 wickets

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 27 wickets

Praveen Kumar – 15 wickets

Deepak Chahar – 13 wickets

Sandeep Sharma – 13 wickets

With both Bhuvneshwar and Boult in top form, the race for the most first-over wickets in IPL history promises to be an exciting one to watch in the remaining matches!  Will Bhuvneshwar manage to pull ahead, or will Boult have the final say? Only time will tell!
