Only a few batters have, nonetheless, amassed double hundreds in back-to-back test matches. There had only been two Indians in this esteemed list for the longest time possible. However, now, another Indian batter joined this illustrious list. The consistency required to accomplish this iconic feat is immense.
Let’s take a look at the only three batters to have consecutive double-hundreds for Team India in Test cricket.
Virat Kohli – 213 & 225* vs Sri Lanka, 2017

Virat Kohli currently holds the record for the most double hundreds scored by an Indian batsman in test cricket, with 7 to his name. In 2017, he showcased his peak form against Sri Lanka, starting with a duck in the first match but bouncing back spectacularly, never to look back.
Kohli’s standout performances included a superb century in Kolkata, followed by double centuries in Nagpur and Delhi. Kohli made a superb 213 off only 267 balls in Nagpur before following it up with a splendid 225* in Delhi. He even made another half-century in the second innings of the Delhi Test as the game ended in a draw. He averaged an incredible 75.64 in Tests that year, with five scores exceeding 100 runs.
