SA20 2025 Fixtures Announced

Cricket fans in South Africa and around the world rejoice! The much-anticipated fixtures for the third season of the SA20, South Africa’s premier T20 league, have been unveiled. Get ready for a thrilling month of action, packed with star power and high-octane cricket, starting on January 9, 2025.

The 2025 edition of SA20 will feature six teams, all competing for the coveted title. The participating teams are as follows:

• Sunrisers Eastern Cape
• MI Cape Town
• Durban’s Super Giants
• Pretoria Capitals
• Joburg Super Kings
• Paarl Royals

The season kicks off with a bang, featuring a rematch of the 2023 finals! Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will lock horns with MI Cape Town at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha. Will the Orange Army continue their dominance, or will MI Cape Town dethrone them and claim the coveted trophy?

The following day, the runners-up from the previous seasons, Pretoria Capitals and Durban Super Giants, will battle it out at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The first Saturday of the tournament promises a double dose of excitement, with Paarl Royals taking on the champions in the daytime and Joburg Super Kings clashing with MI Cape Town under the lights at Newlands.

After 30 exciting league matches, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs, vying for ultimate glory. The battle for the championship intensifies on February 4 with Qualifier 1 in Gqeberha. SuperSport Park in Centurion will host the Eliminator on February 5 and Qualifier 2 on February 6, giving fans another chance to witness high-pressure cricket. Finally, the grand finale will take place on February 8 at the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, promising a nail-biting conclusion to the season.

This year’s SA20 promises even more star power to keep fans glued to their screens. Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, known for his elegant stroke-making, will be leading the charge for the Durban Super Giants. The Paarl Royals have bolstered their batting line-up with the inclusion of the experienced Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik and the legendary English batsman Joe Root.

The player auction, scheduled for October 1, 2024, will further fuel the excitement as teams fight to secure the best talent in the world.

This season holds the potential for another Sunrisers Eastern Cape triumph. After successfully defending their title in the second edition, can they achieve the historic feat of a hat-trick championship? Only time will tell!
