India Clinch Series Win, Now at second WTC Position

In a sensational display of skill and determination, the Indian team, led by the ever-reliable Rohit Sharma, displayed their talent once again by claiming the series win against England with one Test match remaining. This dominant win solidifies India’s second position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table and extends their remarkable home record to 17 consecutive series wins.

Despite losing the opening Test in Hyderabad, India bounced back spectacularly, claiming three consecutive victories, showcasing their resilience and depth. India’s journey to victory showcased exceptional leadership from Rohit Sharma, who not only guided the team to a five-wicket win but also achieved a personal milestone by surpassing 4,000 runs in Test cricket. This feat was even more impressive considering the absence of key players like KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Shami as emerging talents like Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Akash Deep stepped up to contribute significantly, along with crucial performances from experienced players, eventually leading India to success.

The Ranchi Test win elevated India’s point percentage in the ICC WTC 2023-25 from 59.52 to an impressive 64.58. Currently positioned in second place in the WTC table, India trails only behind New Zealand, who maintain their lead with a 75.00-win percentage after playing four matches, winning 3 and losing 1, with 36 points. India’s eight-test journey in this WTC cycle includes five victories, two losses, and one draw, with 62 points and a 64.58-win percentage, placing them ahead of Australia (55%) and Bangladesh (50%).

With this win, India has not only consolidated their position in the WTC race but also sent a strong message to their competitors. They are a team to be reckoned with, and their hunger for another WTC Final appearance is evident.
