Rishabh Pant creates a record for most runs by a batter against one bowler in a T20 match

Indian Premier League (IPL) superstar Rishabh Pant made history during a recent match between his team, the Delhi Capitals (DC), and the Gujarat Titans (GT). Pant’s blistering knock of 88 runs in just 43 balls helped DC win the close encounter. But it was his performance against a single bowler that truly stole the show.

Pant went on a rampage against Gujarat Titans bowler Mohit Sharma, smashing a record-breaking 62 runs off Sharma’s 18 balls. This isn’t just the most runs scored against a single bowler in an IPL match, it’s the most ever in any T20 match worldwide! No other batsman has ever crossed the 60-run mark against a single bowler in a T20 match before.

This incredible feat adds to Pant’s already impressive IPL season. He joins an elite group of just three players in IPL history to score over 50 runs against one bowler in a match, alongside Virat Kohli and Hashim Amla.

Mohit Sharma, on the other hand, had a day to forget. Pant’s onslaught ensured Sharma conceded a record-breaking 73 runs in his four overs, the most expensive spell in IPL history.

Pant’s knock, along with a crucial partnership with Axar Patel, powered DC to a massive total of 224 runs. Despite fifties from Gujarat Titans batsmen Sai Sudharsan and David Miller, DC held their nerve and secured a thrilling victory.

Last year, Mohammed Siraj was the star bowler of the IPL. He dominated the first six overs of innings, taking wickets and barely giving away any runs. This season, however, things have gone terribly wrong for Siraj. In 2023, Siraj was the second-highest wicket-taker in the powerplay, just behind Mohammed Shami. He was so good that his bowling average was just under 6 runs per over
